Creatine Kinase Activity as an Indicator of Energetic Impairment and Tissue Damage in Fish: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Creatine kinase (CK) is an enzyme that produces and uses phosphocreatine to transfer energy maintain tissue cellular homeostasis, being considered the main controller of homeostasis. Its activity in plasma/serum has been commonly used evaluate damage, since CK released into bloodstream during damage. This review summarizes current knowledge regarding use fish, focusing on its potential as indicator impairment energetic homeostasis damage stressful situations, such exposure contaminants (metals, pesticides, microplastic), hypoxia, thermal stress, diseases (fungal, parasitic, bacterial). Based data, we can conclude be a suitable fish exposed different aquaculture challenge conditions, while serum/plasma first evidence possible due release bloodstream.

Ethnic Differences in Tissue Creatine Kinase Activity: An Observational Study
BACKGROUND Serum creatine kinase (CK) levels are reported to be around 70% higher in healthy black people, as compared to white people (median value 88 IU/L in white vs 149 IU/L in black people). As serum CK in healthy people is thought to occur from a proportional leak from normal tissues, we hypothesized that the black population subgroup has a generalized higher CK activity in tissues. MET...
متن کاملMolecular markers as an indicator in the malignant potential of oral lichen planus: A systematic review
BACKGROUND AND AIM: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic, autoimmune, inflammatory disease. The progression of OLP to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has generated a longstanding controversy about the details of this malignant transformation potential. This study aimed to do a systematic review on the molecular markers related to the malignant transformation of OLP.METHODS: We searched the...
متن کاملCreatine kinase as an indicator of sperm quality and maturity in men with oligospermia.
OBJECTIVES To determine the differences among the creatine kinase (CK) levels in the spermatozoa of subfertile men with mild, moderate, or severe oligospermia and to examine the differences in CK activity between infertile patients with various clinical diagnoses and a group of normal healthy donors (control). CK is a marker of sperm maturity that correlates with the sperm fertilizing capacity....
متن کاملIn Vitro Inhibition of Human Sperm Creatine Kinase by Nicotine, Cotinine and Cadmium, as a Mechanism in Smoker Men Infertility
Background Nicotine, cotinine and cadmium are harmful components of cigarettes that have an effect on human reproductive function. Although the effects of cigarette smoke on male reproductive function is characterized in several articles its mechanism of action is still unknown. In the present study, we investigate the effect of nicotine, cotinine and cadmium on human sperm creatine kinase acti...
